Meet Dr. Melodi Faris

Melodi Faris, Ph.D. began her professional career as an elementary school teacher, instructing kindergarten, first grade, and fourth grade. After earning a master’s degree in early childhood education, she transitioned to teaching at the community college level. Following a career break to raise her children, she completed a doctorate in early childhood education and child development, and later served as a professor in teacher preparation programs at Texas Christian University and Texas Woman’s University.

With her expertise in early childhood education and experience as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher, she developed Spell2Read to introduce children to letters, sounds, spelling, and reading in a developmentally appropriate manner. The methods in the Spell2Read program are the same ones she successfully used to teach her own children to read and to tutor students struggling to learn to read.

Dr. Faris is passionate about sharing these proven strategies with parents and teachers seeking effective ways to strengthen young children’s early literacy skills.
